 Southern Fried Chicken





Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken pieces (legs, thighs, wings)
  • 2 cups buttermilk (for marinade)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil for frying



Instructions:

  1. Soak chicken in buttermilk for 4–24 hours.
  2. Mix flour with all seasonings in a bowl.
  3. Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a heavy skillet to 350°F.
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture.
  5. Fry 7–10 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temp hits 165°F.
  6. Drain on paper towels and rest before serving.
