Southern Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken pieces (legs, thighs, wings)
- 2 cups buttermilk (for marinade)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp seasoned salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- Soak chicken in buttermilk for 4–24 hours.
- Mix flour with all seasonings in a bowl.
- Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a heavy skillet to 350°F.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture.
- Fry 7–10 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temp hits 165°F.
- Drain on paper towels and rest before serving.
